My story in Progress:
Recently I've been inspired to embark to Rishikesh, India to learn yoga from the source and receive my 200 hour yoga teacher's certification.
Suffering from severe scoliosis with a titanium rod in my spine after spinal fusion surgery, I spent most of my life thinking that my dream of teaching yoga simply wasn't possible. I discovered Kundalini yoga and I was amazed how accessible the poses were, the level of which my spirit lifted, and the spiritual nature that was awakened from within my being. I began a disciplined daily practice of Kundalini yoga and my dream of teaching yoga emerged once again.
Searching for schools, I discovered that it seemed like a much better option to go to India to receive my certification. I could get my 200 hours, be completely immersed, learn from the source, and have my food and lodge accommodated all for less I would pay in the states (including my ticket). It was a great idea.
During my search for Kundalili schools, I came across a book called Confessions of an American Sikh where the author, spending several years close to Yogi Bhajan (the founder of modern Kundalili yoga), completely tears Yogi Bhajan and his teachings apart. He had been involved in several lawsuits, exuded aggressive behavior, lied about his lineage and teachings, and was ultimately not a genuine teacher. This discovery left my world spinning. The entire foundation of my practice had been based on a lie.
Believe it or not, this is actually a common thing within the community. So many seekers become swept up in sacred teachings that they become to naive to the true essence of those teaching and left susceptible to be taken advantage of. The teacher/student relationship is a sacred one where one should be comfortable enough to completely let go. Finding someone who can fit these standards can be extremely difficult thus I have outline some helpful advice.
Know Your Teacher/School:
Unfortunately with situations like traveling to India, it can be difficult to really know what you're getting into. A legitimate guru should have a concrete spiritual lineage and be able to attest to a personal experience of awakening. When you find a school that seems fitting, read any and all reviews. Look through course outlines. Reach out to some of the people who have studied with in that school or with that teacher. Are they strangely more expensive than other similar schools in the area? Do they do anything to help their local community? Are they founded by the same "yogi" who also founded a similar school down the street? Are they asking you to pay under the table? Do they have strange attachments to their guru/founder that one might compare to being "cultish"? etc. I found a few different schools and emailed some questions, and the one with the more understanding the response was the school I leaned towards. You can tell a lot about a teacher/facility by how genuinely understanding and accommodating they are to a student's individual needs and concerns.
Often times we simply run into the problem that a guru is still human, thus remains a shred of the ego and rarely escapes the human condition. Being a guru, often times they will try harder to hide this shred, only aiding in its growth. It is important to find a teacher who is honest with their students, as well as with themselves.
Know Your Method:
If you want to teach a specific style of yoga, think about what it is about that style that draws you towards it. I wanted to teach Kundalini because it's focus on the spine/chakras, easy poses, and spiritual nature. I now realize that most of the things that I describe define yoga itself before it became westernized. The only exception would be easy poses, but, yoga being such a broad practice, there will always be poses more difficult or easier than others. Many western varieties that seem "especially spiritual" are just profiting off what traditional authentic yoga already is.
Follow Your Heart:
Spiritual schools and gurus are always susceptible to negative allegations by those that don't understand. When discerning the truth from the lies, follow what feels legitimate to you. Pay attention to signs of potential teachings that correlate with synchronicities you may be experiencing, or even dreams that you've had. Often times the right teacher will find you if you remain open.
Don't Give Up:
I could of easily given up one yoga altogether after I learned about Yogi Bhajan's Kundalili yoga and many likely do in this situation. Instead I took it deeper, thought about why I really felt drawn to teach yoga in the first place. When we become discouraged in the spiritual community and fail to find anyone who is truly authentic, often times the only is answer is to become authentic within ourselves and find where that feeling leads. Currently, I am looking for schools that teach a deeper, more traditional style of yoga and hope to be heading to India the beginning of next year.
I hope my advice is worthwhile and wish you luck on your incredible journey.
Namaste!

Book of Shadows: Ostara Ritual
With the spring equinox on it's way, I decided to throw together a little ceremony. Ostara is traditionally a time of rebirth and reawakening. Things are coming alive, male and female are joining as on, and everything is in bloom.
This one I wrote combining a couple of things I read on pinterest, which I'm unable to recall enough to source at the moment so, just as a disclaimer if you notice any similarities.
To perform this ritual, I several eggs (one for each individual) with beet juice and turmeric. Me and a small group went on a hike in a New Hampshire nature preserve and scouted out the perfect spot. We made our offerings with holy basil and mint seeds. It was a great experience, but I have not returned since to see if any of the seeds had sprouted. If you decide to perform this, let me know how your experience goes. Again, if your unsure about any of the steps, just ask.

Book of Shadows: Feline Purrification Spell
I created this spell when I began to notice scrambled energy of my familiar. He had been through a lot of moving back and forth and I felt he needed something to help readjust. Immediately after performing this, the entire room felt a little lighter and my cats energy seemed more cohesive. If you're facing a similar situation, I hope this helps and look forward to hearing about your experiences. Of course this spell isn't limited to cats, feel free to change the wording to fit any animal or human in need. Uncovering the Three Beings
During the summer of
2012, I had an experience that changed my life forever. I stayed in the
hospital for four months for treatment for major scoliosis (at the time I
possessed about a 140 degree curve). During the time I spent there, I had two
surgeries. One was minor, in which they bolted four screws into my skull for a
traction device. The other very major, called spinal fusion in which they
attached two titanium rods to my spine. Under both of which I believe I had two
of the most spiritual experiences of my life.
During the first, which
only lasted about an hour, I recall being thrown with near lightning speed to
an unfamiliar plane of existence. I felt as if I had "broke through to the
other side" and traveled to an astral plane relatively high up on the
spiritual scale. The plane was built of patterns and grids of a color that near
resembled glitter. All my human senses were cut off, but I seemed to still be
able to see and hear purely intuitively. On this plane, I encountered three
beings. As these beings spoke, I never really heard anything they said, I just
simply knew what they were trying to communicate due to feeling their energy.
The beings expressed that they had looked down upon human souls from their
plane for quite some time, but never had they encountered human soul on their
plane before. Being extremely curious, these beings swirled around me as if
they were investigating my soul. They then reassured me about many things
including that I would be alright through my whole ordeal in the hospital.
After I awoke from this
surgery, I felt I was thrown back into my body so harshly, that I desperately
needed to hold on to the nurse in fear I would literally fall off the face of
the universe and I was talking uncontrollably without thinking. The nurse
continued holding my hand as I rambled on about my experience. She asked me if
I had seen heaven and, to her disappointment, I told her that heaven didn’t
exist, because it was something so much bigger than that. Everything felt so
clear and I recall comparing such a feeling to that of being born. A lot of
things connected after that. I realized that, as a young child, almost all of
my nightmares were about being "investigated" by mysterious beings,
which I assume were the same entities.
Aside from this trinity,
I also recalled meeting a green being. This green being claimed to have known my
mother, so I assumed it had been my deceased grandfather. It wasn't until a
little afterwards that my grandmother told me about an experience she had shortly
after my grandfather passed on in which she awoke to a near identical green
being of light sitting in lotus position in the form of my grandfather.
Even though this seemed
like a personal entity, I wondered if there was a bigger meaning. I thought of
the heart chakra and how it acts as the balance point for all the chakras and
governs our relationships and how we interact with other people. Also, green,
the color associated with the heart chakra, symbolizes harmony, health,
abundance and nature. It is the combining of yellow (soul) and blue (spirit).
Green, nature's color, offers new energy.
Yet after many
meditations that I realized this entity would be necessary for my advancement.
Acting as pure compassion, this guide would serve as a spiritual umbrella
allowing me to venture into the deep corners of the universe, while shielding me
from intense polarity. It is said that the brightest light casts the darkest
shadow, and the darkest shadow reflects the brightest light. The single thing
that seems to neutralize such polarity is compassion. It is the middle path.
During the time between
my two surgeries I had one of the most terrible nightmares of my life, which I
still remember clearly. Just before waking up I heard a loud marching sound as
the beings emerged once more, but they were somehow very different this time.
They seemed to be the polar opposite of the beings I remembered. The beings I
met previously seemed to represent immense and unconventional love and peace,
while the other set represented dark intensity and void, which I believe is
often misinterpreted as evil. After I awoke, I still perceived these beings
standing before me, but only for a few moments before they disappeared.
A few months later, there
were complications with my following surgery, but after one failed attempt and
one unexpected sickness, things seemed to fall into place. I awoke that morning
with my heart pounding out of my chest. I was given drugs to ease my anxiety,
even drugs to make me forget the process of going under, which I still remember
quite vividly, and in the end I was given laughing gas, which was when
everything faded out.
I traveled again to the
same plane where the beings greeted me once more. They seemed familiar with my
soul and assured me that the complications occurred because they weren’t quite
ready for me. With the knowledge they gained from my previous surgery, they
gathered around me and removed my core essence from my soul’s vehicle. They
then turned away and huddled together further craft it, shaping it with their
light and giving me wisdom and psychic senses that it would have taken me years,
even lifetimes to develop on my own. It was somewhat like setting a reset
button on me in the sense that it took away all of my spiritual baggage.
After the beings had
altered my core essence, they placed it back into my soul’s vehicle. After
which the beings communicated to me that, because my energy is now so
different, I must travel through the entire process of reincarnation in order
to return to my body. I could no longer return the way I came. This part gets a
bit fuzzy because I believe I went deeper than my brain still allows me to
currently comprehend. I recall exploring the grid of the cosmos and floating in
time and space, yet with a mission – I knew I still had to get home.
One of my last stops
was to what I can only describe as a quasar (- a point in space in which a
black hole swallows a star and lets out a cosmic burp of blasting light).
Quasars are usually extremely hectic, and yet somehow it was peaceful as if the
point of explosion was frozen in space and time stood still. It glowed with
brilliant light more beautiful than I had ever seen. Spirits emerged and
welcomed me, and everyone recognized me and communicated that they were
surprised that I had been human for so long. They all gathered around and
embraced me and I had never felt such an intense sense of belonging. It was
then when I realized that that’s what I had meant when I told the nurse there
was no heaven, that it wasn’t that simple. It’s because everyone’s “heaven” is
different. When you return to “heaven”, you’re returning to the place where
your soul originated, where time itself stands still.
I’m told roughly eight
hours later, I woke up. I don’t remember this, nor do I remember anything else
until three days later. I almost feel its better that way, although I’m told that,
when I wasn’t screaming pain, I was babbling about the beings. Recovering was
one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do. While in constant pain I
had to relearn many of the basic things no one ever gives much thought to.
Luckily I made a speedy recovery and was sent home a week later.
It wasn't until I
reached a higher state of consciousness during meditation, which occurred a few
months after returning home from the hospital, that I realized that all these
things meant something and that there were certain profound secrets of the
universe of which I felt I needed to uncover. During this experience, I also learned
why certain souls are placed in certain bodies and how spiritual experiences
which the individual will experience in life must match up to the spiritual
needs of the soul. After that it seemed like after every one of my mediations,
I’d uncover more about all of my experiences, as if I was slowing prying
information from my subconscious.
During another one of
my mediations I recalled meeting these beings and writing on a piece of paper
“The beings called to me and I understood”, but after I regained normal
consciousness, I couldn't for the life of me remember what these beings called
out to me for or what I "understood".
Even my dreams were a
constant psychedelic vision. Once the continuation of colors and patterns
faded, I would continuously have dreams of being in a very tall tower. This
tower represented all that existed and each door in this tower represented a
different dimension or universe. It seemed to represent a tower of the living
mind built on the foundation of the Akashic Records. The tower had somewhat of
a “help desk” in the center, which is where the three beings always resided.
However every time they were revealed, I would wake up.
After that I began
doing as much research as possible about these three beings. Some of the things
that came to mind before research were the trinities of various religions which
I already knew about - The father, son, and holy ghost of Christianity, The
maiden, mother, and crone of Paganism which represents the three stages of the
Goddess, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva of Hinduism which represents the creator,
the preserver, and destroyer of the universe, and of course there is always the
past, present, and future as well as the physical, mental, spiritual self, and
the individual, cosmic, and transcendent self. But I knew these three beings
meant more than all of that. They were somehow all of them and none of them.
My favorite tarot card
also came to mind - the High Priestess. I had read about how she sat between
two pillars who were in plain sight, but the third pillar was slightly covered
temporarily by a curtain as sort of a test to the seeker of enlightenment (-
the Magican). I thought of how these three pillars could possibly represent the
three beings.
So I began doing
research on various people who endured a near death experience and I was
astonished at just how many people mentioned meeting these three beings. I was
even more astonished when I came across this picture that a man had posted
while describing his near death experiences - an exact match of the three
beings of dark intensity that appeared to me.
I found that a woman
recalled meeting these beings during her near death experiences in the late
80’s and, according to her, they predicted to her the war and the dwindling
state of the economy. But they told her that an era of peace would arise on
earth following these two events.
A young boy who had a
near death experience recalled back on it by saying “I had the feeling that if
I went with them (three beings) there would be no coming back ….”
A woman who took part
in a past life regression reported seeing three beings she had been with just
before she was born. She stated that “Standing in that place with the three
beings, I was surrounded by spectacular vistas. If I had turned around, I would
have seen the planet Earth beside and below us. All of the vistas seemed
unimportant. The three beings huddled about me, giving me both information and
instructions. That was the important part. After that, they sent me here, — to
this life.”
I also found that a
group of spirit mediums, skilled in performing séances and contacting the
diseased, worked with a group of three beings which they referred to as “the
spirit team”. They claimed that all the advancements they made in their field
were only made possible through the help of this “spirit team” as they wanted
them to succeed.
So I then reached the
conclusion that perhaps these “three beings” were some kind of the gate-keepers
of the other side, but if this were true, why has so little been written about
them? Finding any information about them over the internet was like a wild
goose chase. But perhaps that’s because the most valuable truths are the ones
that are the hardest to find.
I continued researching
and found that Alice A. Bailey, an important figure of Theosophy who is said to
help St. Germain bring about the Age of Aquarius in the Americas, and two
different English Masters. Her and few others
formed a subsidiary group in called Triangles, in which people were
encouraged to form 3 person triangle groups for meditation, the purpose as
being to “help to illuminate world thought … through which the new incoming
Aquarian energies can function, the new ideas spread.". Bailey is also said to have identified the
three Lords of Liberation. According Bailey, the three Lords of Liberation
formulated the slogan Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. Finally, Bailey also
identified the three Lords of Karma. These three beings are said to live in
Shamballah and help Sanat Kumara decide where and when souls are going to
incarnate in their next life.
The concept of these
three beings being "Lords of Karma" struck me with a profound sense
of significance. In Paganism, they make clear that everything you send out into
the universe, especially with your magickal practice, come back to you times
three. They call it the Law of Three. I thought that perhaps each degree of
your karma relating to this law could possibly be given to you by each of the
three beings. It's also a common concept of many eastern philosophies that your
next life is determined by your karma... So it's only logical to conclude that
these "Lords of Karma" would be the beings to lead you to your next
life.
I did some looking into
who Sanat Kumara was and found that Helena Blavatsky, another important figure
in Theosophy, mentioned him briefly and claimed he belonged to a group of
beings called the “Lords of the Flame”, whom Christian tradition have
misunderstood as Lucifer and the fallen angels. The word lucifer actually means
“light bringer” and, as I recall holds some significance with the planet Venus.
Sanat Kumara is regarded as the great guru, savior of Earth as it is said that
he sacrificed himself to become the personality vehicle for the ensuing deity
of our planet 18.5 million years ago. Believers in him see him are in many of
the major religions, as Skanda/Kartikkeya in Hinduism, Brahma-Sanam Kumar in
Buddhism, the Ancient of Days in Judeo-Christian traditions identify him as
Ahura Mazda in Zoroastrianism. It is also considered that Sanat Kumara is Al
Khdir, or green man (something I found quite interesting) known to Sufi Muslims
(according to Dakshinamurti).
I decided to do some
investigating in the number three itself. Through my vague awareness of
occultism, I remembered that the 33rd degree was the highest degree of
freemasonry, but, in addition to that, I found that the number '333' had some
significance in occultism as well. It is said that occultists often use the
triple numbers 333 as a secret number representing 666. But we have heard that
the real reason is that this number, 333, is an occult symbol for Choronzon,
the dreaded spirit of chaos. This entity also is known as the spirit of
dissolution and Lord of Hallucinations. It was said that everyone who came in
contact with Choronzon falls into ruin. The demon is said to create confusion
of thought and turn people insane. In the 20th century he became an important
element within the mystical system of Thelema, founded by Aleister Crowley,
where he is the Dweller in the Abyss believed to be the last great obstacle
between the adept and enlightenment. Thelemites believe that if he is met with
proper preparation, then his function is to destroy the ego, which allows the
adept to move beyond the Abyss of occult cosmology.
There's also the number
three manifested in geometry - the triangle. "… Triangles were conceived
by the ancients to explain the secret order of the cosmos”. It's said that
pagans believed that triangles symbolically revealed that three spirits were
brought down into the geographical or the worldly realm. For example, Baal-Shalisha, a pagan god of
three, who is mentioned in the Bible. There's also the six-pointed star, a
symbol commonly used by the Jewish faith, a triangle facing upward upon a
triangle facing downward... Using the idea of the triangle paired with the
hermetic axiom "as above, so below". I believe this symbol can be
used to adequately represent the union of three light beings and the three dark
beings, thus describing the absolute oneness of all that exists. I have even
started using this symbol in place of the pentagram in the center of my altar.
I also came across a
Norse symbol called a Valknut which involved three intertwined upward facing
triangles. The symbol can be seen as a representation of Odin and the
afterlife. While the exact meaning of Valknut is unsure, however it is believed
and indicated to symbolise the connectedness of the nine worlds represented in
the vikings world. Another belief for the Valknut symbol meaning was as a aid
for reincarnation, cyclical relationships and in talismans to ward against
evil. It was a common tradition to carve this symbol into caskets and
tombstones.
I also found it
interesting that there are three different type of Norse Gods. The Aesir - the
gods of the tribe or clan, representing kingship, order, craft, etc., the Vanir
- gods of the fertility of the earth and forces of nature, and the Jotnar -
giant-gods who are in a constant state of war with the Aesir, representing
chaos and destruction.
But in the end, I knew the
entirety of these clues hinted to something bigger than I could imagine. I knew
there are many more truths yet to uncover on the matter. I had wondered if
perhaps much of my coincidental research wasn’t related to my experience at all
or that all of this was simply a product anesthesia, pure insanity, or
imagination. I wondered why so little had been written about these, and most
importantly, I wondered why they had chosen me. Ultimately, I knew I’d be able
to piece it all together eventually and it was then that I realized that to do
so, I must tell my story as well as integrate it into my practice.

Uncovering the Green Being
There's been a few instances in which I've mentioned a few experiences where I have come across a green being. The information kept piling up on this subject, so I've decided to make an entire post dedicated to this.
As I mentioned in my last post, while I was under surgery in the hospital last summer, I met a green being along with three other beings on another plane of existence. This green being claimed to have known my mother, so I assumed it had been my deceased grandfather.
It wasn't until a little afterwards that my grandmother told me about an experiences she had shortly after my grandfather died in which she awoke to a green being of light sitting in lotus position in the form of my grandfather. I don't recall much of the details about what she told me, but I do remember that he reassured her that he would look after my mother.
During one of my LSD trips, I remember being at a point which I was obligated to embrace the entirety of the universe as a whole, but I had been afraid. I was torn between these light and dark beings and held a certain amount of fear towards the dark, but this green energy appeared posed as sort of my shield a mirror that reflected negative energies and then allowed me to truly embrace the entirety of the universe.
Later on, I had a dream in which the green being came to me and told me that the darkness of the universe had pushed too far and he had to leave my side to help restore the balance of all that exists (I realized the goal of every being in the universe depends on either upholding balance or throwing it off), but he poured some of his green energy into my so I could adequately shield myself against negative forces while he was gone.
During another trip, I came to a point where I was literally witnessing my soul being born from the energy of an explosion in outer space (a concept which I'll go more into detail about in a future post). Not in the explosion itself, but in the atmosphere near the explosion, was this green energy who I had a feeling represented the green being.
Even though this was a personal entity, I decided to see what research I could do on the subject anyway.
The subject of the six-pointed star came to mind. Along with representing the metaphysical aspects of the triangle and the Hermetic axiom of "as above, so below", some say it can also represent the seven chakras (the middle representing the green heart chakra as it is said to be the center of the self). This also made me think of the Buddhist mantra "Aum Mani Padme Hum" (meaning something along the lines of "Aum to the jewel in the lotus flower" or "I bow to the higher self, the jewel, which resides in the hearts lotus". This ultimately led me to wonder if this green being and the heart chakra had anything in common.
I got a free chakra reading by a woman on the street once. She told me many interesting things, but one especially. While spiritually feeling the energy of all my chakras, she stopped at my heart, looked at me in the eye, made a motion as if she were handing me a flower, and asked "Does this look familiar at all?". I wasn't really sure how to respond at the time, but the first thing that came to mind was the green being and the manta "Aum Mani Padme Hum".
After this, I took part in many different meditations which involved using the energy of the heart - creating a light and storing it in your heart, etc.
The heart chakra acts as the balance point for all the chakras. It governs our relationships and how we interact with other people.
Green, the color associated with the heart chakra, symbolizes harmony, creativity, health, abundance and nature. It is the combining of yellow (soul) and blue (spirit). Green, nature's color, offers new energy.
I remember learning briefly about a figure called the Green Man in paganism, as well as in a few other cultures, who was believed to represent an ancient vegetation deity. Many believe the Green Man is related to the pre-Christian Celtic god Cernunnos; others that it is simply an expression of the forces of nature, or even a reminder that we, too, are part of the cycle of life.
Cernunnos was an ancient figure in Celtic Mythology whose known depictions date back to the Paleolithic age. Even the cave drawings associate him as a horned male God closely associated with snakes and stags. His main attributes are fertility, produce, and an obvious Phallic symbol. Cernunnos can also draw various references(some real, some imagined) from various Gods and Pantheon’s across Europe. Possibilities include Odin, Frey, Green Man, Pan, Minotaur, Herne the Hunter, and the Arthurian Green Knight. Cernunnos Horns and his color of nature(Green) are so distinctive that he was made into the image of the Devil during Christian conversion. The artwork in Dante’s inferno shows a green devil with stag like horns. St. Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland, is a representation of the Christian removal of the Druids. Whose symbol was the snake, an animal closely associated with Cernunnos. Devotes of Cernunnos follow a life/fertility/Death cycle celebrated on his death at Samhain October 31, of the Gaelic New Year.
I continued my research and found that there exists a deity in Islamic mythology called Al-Khidr, which literally translates to "the green one" and represents freshness of spirit as well as eternal liveliness. Some Islams refer to him simply as an angel who functions as a guide to those who seek God while others claims he symbolizes the benign presence of the divine wisdom as imparted by the Divine Himself to Khidr and to Prophet Muhammad.
The one thing I did find that appeared interesting was a paragraph from my last post about the three beings - "....Sanat Kumara was and found that Helena Blavatsky, another important figure in Theosophy, mentioned him briefly and claimed he belonged to a group of beings called the “Lords of the Flame”, whom Christian tradition have misunderstood as Lucifer and the fallen angels. The word lucifer actually means “light bringer” and, as I recall holds some significance with the planet Venus. Sanat Kumara is regarded as the great guru, saviour of Earth as it is said that he sacrificed himself to become the personality vehicle for the ensouling deity of our planet 18.5 million years ago. Believers in him see him are in many of the major religions, as Skanda/Kartikkeya in Hinduism, Brahma-Sanam Kumar in Buddhism, the Ancient of Days in Judeo-Christian traditions identify him as Ahura Mazda in Zoroastrianism. It is also considered that Sanat Kumara is Al-Khdir, or green man (something I found quite interesting)."
Although it doesn't much appear that the majority of these clues are connected to this green being. Perhaps that's because, I had said before, I had a feeling that this energy was one of a personal nature and not one of a bigger scale. Although I was interested to know about the various green deities of other cultures, I'm skeptical on whether or not any of them hold any correlation with the being I came in contact with.
